1)Parts of speech >> the way in which words are put together to form phrases, clauses, or sentences
Nouns >> cars, lamp, flowers, teacher, sailors, skill, strength
Pronouns>>his,hers,mine,theirs
Adjectives>>describes nouns : fast cars, yellow lamp, tall teacher, strong
Preposition>> to show relation of the noun : The car is in the car park.
Verbs, regular and irregular verbs >>run, eat, ate, eaten
Conjunctions >> connect sentences, and,but,if
Interjections>> Oh! Wow!
Adverbs>> modifies verbs,adjectives: quickly, loudly,locally

2) Proverbs>> an apple a day, keeps the doctor away

3) Tenses>>past,present,future

4) And do everything in English. Makan, tido dan mimpi dalam English :D

Cara menggunakan a, an dan the

Topik ini saya pernah sentuh sebelum ini. Tapi saya dapati masih ramai yang tidak tahu bila hendak gunakan a,an dan the bila membuat ayat. Anda tahu bila ianya diletakkan pada sesuatu huruf seperti an apple, a cat, the house tetapi keliru bila buat ayat.

serviettes
A car, a teacher, a mountain, a bicycle, a boy.
Contoh: Can I have a serviette please?

An apple, an elephant, an igloo, an owl, an umbrella.

Contoh :
 Have you finished the report
Are you done with the omelette
I have sent the children to school.
The bags are in the cupboard.

Jadi di manakah nak letak a, an dan the ni? Letakkan mereka sebelum sesuatu noun.
Can I have some fruits please?
Where are the keys?
The keys are on the table.
The boys are waiting for a bus.

Vocabulary:
Tapi ni kira standard serviette kat Malaysia lah kalau kita pergi sesetengah tempat makan.

vowel = huruf a,e, i, o, u
noun = kata benda >> api, lembu, garpu, telur, jalan

Post holiday (selepas bercuti)

How's it going? So, jangan translate BI ke BM macam tu je, ok?? :)

Antara yang saya dengar:
How are you today?
How's it going?
How does it go?
How are we today?
How it goes today?

So kalau anda dengar orang putih tanya anda, atau mana2 movie, maksudnya tetap sama, apa khabar?

And and...I learnt what is a hook turn. Watch this video on what is a hook turn (only in Melbourne). >>Watch this video<<.

Beza its dan it's

Simple question, tapi kalau tak tahu, tetap tahukan?

It = sesuatu benda/perkara
It is a big house.
It has green and white stripes.
It shows that she is nice.

It's = pendek utk it is. Dalam penulisan atau percakapan, kalau you tak boleh ubah ayat tu ke it is, salah la ayat tu.
Contohnya:
It is going to rain.
It's going to rain.
Contoh lain:
Hawa said it's not going to be easy.
It's a great day to go swimming.

Its = menunjukkan pemilikan. Macam his and hers.
Contoh:
Its always been a part of our house. (Ianya sudah lama sebahagian dari rumah kami).
The hotel is reconstructing one of its restaurants.
The cat is licking its paws. ( Kucing itu menjilat kakinya).

Cuba:
1. Its/It's Aidilfitri again.
2. Amar will return the cat to its/it's owner.

1. it's 2. its

Saya suka nak belajar English...tapi tak tahu macam mana...

Mulakan dengan basics seperti I atau I am/I'm. Mengapa I atau I am/I'm?

Contohnya:
I'm hungry.
I'm ready.
I'm going to the park.
I'm watching tv.
I'm on the phone.

Lepas tu, cuba masukkan descriptive words:
I'm super hungry.
I'm absolutely ready.
I'm going to cycle to the park.
I'm watching tv in the kitchen.
I'm on the phone while making breakfast.

Good luck!

How to use when...macam mana nak guna perkataan when

When is used to tell or ask about time. You may ask when in past, present or future tense. It all depends on what are the subjects you are discussing about.

When do you...? (present tense)
Bila awak...?

When did you...? (past tense)
Bila awak...?

When will you...? (future tense)
When are you...?

At what time : When is she due?
At a time, just, after: I find it easier to sleep when...
Although: She prefers to send a letter when she could just send an email.
Considering a fact: How did you get here when you car is in the work shop?

TGIF! Thank God it's Friday! Yeay!

Finally, it's Friday!

Besides being the last day of work for the week (for some of you), it is my favourite day to go to Tesco. Why?On Fridays they have what you call ' Vege Day' (actually on Thursdays and Fridays). I don't know whether they actually advertise this but on this day they reduce the price of vegetables and they bring in more vege and fruits than any other day of the week. You can get seedless grapes at RM5.99 instead of their regular price RM9-11. You'll notice they have more fruits as well on this day. (I should get credit from Tesco for writing this!)

So, I thought today I will share some useful grocery shopping phrases :)

What time do you open daily?
Pukul berapa anda buka setiap hari?

What time do you close today?
Pukul berapa anda tutup hari ini?

Where can I find ...?
Di mana saya boleh cari...?

Why is the price here different than the ones over there?
(referring same item but placed in different places and has different prices)
Kenapa harga disini lain dengan yang disana?
(barang sama tapi diletakkan tempat berlainan dan harga berbeza)
* this is because some items has different prices on certain days- setengah benda harganya berlainan pada hari yang lain

When did these vegetables arrive?
Bila sayur ni sampai?

Where can I find the price of this item?

Where is your scanner?
Di mana scanner anda? alat pengimbas harga...

I can't find ..... I don't see it in the usual aisle.
Saya tak jumpa... Saya tak nampak ianya di lorong biasa.

Where are the carts? Where are the kids cart?
Di mana troli? Di mana troli kanak2?

When is the expiry date for this?
Bila tarikh luput untuk ini?

Can I pay with credit card?
Boleh saya bayar dengan kad kredit?

I forgot to bring my loyalty card.
Saya lupa bawa kad 'kesetiaan' saya

Where can I apply your loyalty card programme?

Can you deliver this item to my house?

Are there any extra charges for the service?
Ada bayaran tambahan untuk servis ini?

Do you have a refund policy?
Anda ada polisi pemulangan?

Have a great Friday!

The Star - Knowing one language not enough in this age (17.3.2011)

The Star OnlineEVERY rational-minded and forward-looking Malaysian undoubtedly shares Wong Chun Wai’s views in On The Beat that universities have to give importance to English if they want to produce employable graduates (Sunday Star, March 13).
Many Malaysians fail to see the logic of the protest by students at the Academy of Malay studies (AMS), Universiti Malaya, over the Higher Education Ministry’s call for universities to give importance to English to enhance the graduates’ employment prospects.
It just does not make sense for any student to create an issue out of a need to improve students’ skills in English to increase the graduate employability rate.
It is a known fact that the problem of poor or weak command of English has affected all faculties in all our public universities. The problem is not only confined to Malay students but also Chinese and Indians and other ethnic groups from Sabah and Sarawak.
The teaching, learning and use of the English language must not be made into an issue when it is done in the interest of our future generation and for the sake of our nation’s progress and its future well-being.
What is even more disturbing is that there are some irrational ones who regard the teaching, learning and promotion of the English language as something unpatriotic.
As we strive to achieve Vision 2020, it is essential for us to adopt a practical and open-minded approach towards any language which can contribute to Malaysia’s progress while remaining firm and steadfast in ensuring that Bahasa Melayu is the country’s official and national language.
As a Malaysian, I am proud of our national language – Bahasa Melayu – a language I use daily in communicating not only with officials of government departments and agencies but also with the various ethnic groups. It is our common language understood and used by Malaysia’s multi-racial population.
However, we must also accept the reality that knowledge of one language is insufficient in this modern and technological age. We need to have a command of other languages for progress and development, be it English, Chinese, French, etc.
We learn and use English as it is an international language for science and technology, business and commerce.
Malaysians should strive to be bilingual or even multi-lingual now that most Malaysians, particularly the younger generation, have mastered Bahasa Melayu.
English is vital if Malaysians are not to be left behind. The ability to learn and use English or any other language should be seen as a progressive move to improve our knowledge and expertise.
The fear of the English language, which some still regard as a legacy of British colonialism, is clearly misplaced and needs to be rectified.I agree!
To overcome this, more needs to be done to convince parents and students, particularly those in the rural areas, on the importance of learning English as a tool for science, technology, business and commerce as well as progress and modernisation.
It is an indisputable fact that the command of the English language among our young generation is poor, and is a matter of concern if we are to cope with the global march of information and communications technology.
We must not regard the learning and mastery of the English language as a threat to our cultural or national identity. It is necessary for our economic survival.
Mastering the English language is about rejuvenating the nation. It is about preparing ourselves individually and collectively as a nation to take our place in the global economy.
Promoting English will not in any way jeopardise the importance and use of Bahasa Melayu as our national and official language.
Improving the standard of English will not diminish the importance of our national language since bilingualism or even trilingual is an unwritten need for social and professional competence in this modern age.
Certainly, learning and using the English language will not make us less nationalistic.
TAN SRI LEE LAM THYE,
Kuala Lumpur.

Learning tenses (time)

In English, there are 3 times you must observe: past tense, present tense and past tense.future tense.

I drink coffee everyday. (simple present, setiap hari, masih melakukan)
I am drinking coffee now. (present continuous, tindakkan sekarang)
I have drank coffee for 15 years. (present perfect, menunjukkan sejak bila dan masih berlaku)
I have been drinking coffee for 15 years. (present perfect continuous, menunujukkan tindakkan sejak bila dan masih berlaku)

Macam mana nak guna?

Torres: I wanted to leave Anfield last summer

Torres hopes to score against his former side on Sunday

Can't believe I am posting this up. I am not a big fan of football. I actually did like football when I was in school. The fact that I grew up during my childhood elsewhere would explain a lot why I like football, then. Upon returning back home, none of my girlfriends seems to like football, let alone play it. Since I was in an all girls school, I had no one to share my passion with.
Years passed by...and suddenly out of no where, there were a huge following of football from ladies in Malaysia. Where did they come from? I never knew any girls who actually liked football in my teens here. By then, a sudden rise of ladies playing futsal appeared, futsal movies came out, sports cafe and what not. As for me, I think 80% of the ladies who like football now in Malaysia, never actually love football in their teens, let alone wear football jerseys and play in a football field (mesti korang pernah tengok movie orang putih budak2 main bola). I honestly  find it a little superficial. I think all this following happened 10-14 years back when the internet was a huge thing and girls wanted to hang out more with guys, make themselves look cool, another reason to go out to hang out with their friends, coming home late etc. Note: I do believe some girls do love football for football. Ditto.
Now days, things are a little bit different. The younger (girls) generation will love football more caused by the exposure of their moms in the late 1990ties and early 2000...and they would actually know how to play football:)

Here's the article on Torres. Happy reading!
By Mark Fleming 2nd Feb 2011
His No 9 Liverpool shirt was burnt on the streets of Merseyside when he concluded his audacious transfer on Monday night, but that has not prevented Chelsea's new £50m signing Fernando Torres from stating boldly that he hopes he scores against his former club when he makes his debut for his new team on Sunday and that he wanted to leave as early as last summer.
Torres described it as "destiny" that his first match for Chelsea will be against the club he represented for three and a half seasons, and he is looking forward to further irritating those Liverpool fire-starters by scoring at Stamford Bridge.
"It is like destiny," Torres said. "It is not perfect for me but we will see what happens and I only have good words about Liverpool. They made me a top player and gave me the chance to play at the top level. I will never say anything bad about Liverpool. I have been very happy there, but now the history is different and I am playing for Chelsea. If I have the chance to play, I will do my best for Chelsea and, hopefully, I can score."
"I felt from last summer that I needed to do a step forward in my career and for my ambition as a footballer," Torres said. "I am joining a team that is at the top level. There is not another level after Chelsea.
Torres, 26, also made it clear that he had wanted to leave Liverpool last summer but was talked out of it, an admission that will not go down well at his former club, where there were suspicions he simply was not trying hard enough.
However, despite the promise of better days under new owners Fenway Sports Group and the caretaker manager Kenny Dalglish, Torres admitted that the time had come to move to Chelsea which, he said, represents a step up to another, higher, level.
"I am joining with big names like [John] Terry, [Frank] Lampard, [Didier] Drogba and [Nicolas] Anelka and I can be part of this great team. Also, I wanted to join because Chelsea always have shown a big respect for me. They really want me and it is important when you have the support of the people in the club, and the support of the fans who always showed respect to me when I came to Stamford Bridge. Now I am very happy to be a Chelsea player."
Torres has spoken in the past of feeling it is "as if you don't exist" and that you "are going backwards" if you are not competing in the Champions League. It appears he harbours the same ambition to win it as the Chelsea owner, Roman Abramovich, and manager, Carlo Ancelotti.
The closest Torres has come was when his Liverpool team lost in the semi-finals to Chelsea in 2008. "I have a very bad memory of the semi-final of the Champions League when they beat us," he said. "It was a frustrating day for me but, hopefully, now I am here we can go through to the final and win.
"The Champions League is a big ambition and all the footballers want to play in it. It is a very important competition. But also Chelsea have the chance every season to win all the trophies that they play for, so when you have the chance to play in a team like this, you cannot say no."
Chelsea also completed the £21.5m signing of Benfica defender David Luiz, with midfielder Nemanja Matic going the other way at the end of the season. Luiz said: "It is a major challenge but I am determined and confident in my ability to adapt to this excellent league."
The Chelsea chief executive, Ron Gourlay, dug into the cliché archive to to describe the feelings of AncelottiGourlay said.
