Mana nak start belajar English ni?

Ramai yang nak belajar tapi tak tahu mana nak mula.Ianya bergantung pada tahap bahasa Inggeris anda (untuk beginners level).

Saya nasihatkan juga untuk tengok program tv, filem dalam bahasa Inggeris sebab ayat2 digunakan adalah betul. Dari situ anda boleh kumpul ayat-ayat. Pastikan anda ada buku nota untuk simpan semua benda anda belajar.

Ini idea sahaja ya untuk anda yang tak tahu mana nak start belajar:

1)Parts of speech >> the way in which words are put together to form phrases, clauses, or sentences

Nouns >> cars, lamp, flowers, teacher, sailors, skill, strength

Pronouns>>his,hers,mine,theirs

Adjectives>>describes nouns : fast cars, yellow lamp, tall teacher, strong

Preposition>> to show relation of the noun : The car is in the car park.

Verbs, regular and irregular verbs >>run, eat,ate,eaten

Conjunctions >> connect sentences, and,but,if

Interjections>> Oh! Wow!

Adverbs>> modifies verbs,adjectives: quickly, loudly,locally

2) Proverbs>> an apple a day, keeps the doctor away

3) Tenses>>past,present,future

4) And do everything in English. Makan, tido dan mimpi dalam English :D

Cara menggunakan a, an dan the

Topik ini saya pernah sentuh sebelum ini. Tapi saya dapati masih ramai yang tidak tahu bila hendak gunakan a,an dan the bila membuat ayat. Anda tahu bila ianya diletakkan pada sesuatu huruf seperti an apple, a cat, the house tetapi keliru bila buat ayat.

serviettes

A - diguna untuk menunjukkan sesuatu yang tidak tentu atau spesifik.  Ianya juga menunujukkan sesuatu singular (satu).
A car, a teacher, a mountain, a bicycle, a boy.

Contoh: Can I have a serviette please?

Ini kerana bila kita meminta a serviette takkan kita nak pilih, jadi kita akan minta yang mana-mana sahaja.

owl/burung hantu

An - juga digunakan untuk menunjukkan sesuatu yang tidak spesifik, sekiranya perkataan seterusnya adalah vowel. Ia juga menunjukkan sesuatu singular.
 An apple, an elephant, an igloo, an owl, an umbrella. 

Ianya juga digunakan untuk perkataan yang berbunyi seperti vowel, seperti hour. An hour (sejam) di mana h nya tidak disebut.  

omelette/telur dadar

The - digunakan dihadapan sesuatu noun yang anda dan mereka yang bercakap dengan anda tahu apa yang dibincangkan. Ianya boleh menunjukkan singular ataupun plural. Contoh :

 Have you finished the report? 

Are you done with the omelette? 

I have sent the children to school.
The bags are in the cupboard.

Jadi di manakah nak letak a, an dan the ni? Letakkan mereka sebelum sesuatu noun. Adakala kita tidak mengguna a dihadapan noun, dimana jika noun tersebut adalah plural (berganda). Tetapi boleh dengan the.

Can I have some fruits please?

Where are the keys?

The keys are on the table.

The boys are waiting for a bus.

Vocabulary:

Ini bukan serviettes ya!

serviette = tisu kertas yang digunakan untuk lap jari/mulut, selalu lebih tebal dari tisu biasa.Ia bukan tisu kertas yang pakai kat kedai mamak tu ya. Ianya adalah jenis tebal dan bukan jenis 2 ply sahaja. Tapi ni kira standard serviette kat Malaysia lah kalau kita pergi sesetengah tempat makan.

vowel = huruf a,e, i, o, u

noun = kata benda >> api, lembu, garpu, telur, jalan

Beza its dan it's

2-3 hari lepas saya dapat mesej kat whatsapp saya dari Tania. Simple question, tapi kalau tak tahu, tetap tahukan?

It = sesuatu benda/perkara

It is a big house. 

It has green and white stripes.

It shows that she is nice.

It's = pendek utk it is. Dalam penulisan atau percakapan, kalau you tak boleh ubah ayat tu ke it is, salah la ayat tu. 

Contohnya:

It is going to rain. 

It's going to rain.

Dua -dua ni betul dan boleh di pakai.

Contoh lain:

Hawa said it's not going to be easy.

It's a great day to go swimming.

Its = menunjukkan pemilikan. Macam his and hers. Selalu digunakan untuk binatang, benda(sesuatu yg tidak menunujukkan jantina) gender neutral. 

Contoh:

Its always been a part of our house. (Ianya sudah lama sebahagian dari rumah kami).

The hotel is reconstructing one of its restaurants. (Hotel tersebut sedang mengubahsuai salah satu dari restorannya).

The cat is licking its paws. ( Kucing itu menjilat kakinya).

Cuba:

1. Its/It's Aidilfitri again.

Belajar pronunciation ...penting atau tidak?

Penting tak belajar pronunciation dalam bahasa Inggeris? Ini semua bergantung berapa banyak Bahasa Inggeris yang akan digunakan seharian. Even if you can speak English well, it is the biggest thing that people notice about you when you speak in English. If you have the chance to learn, why not. Don't fret, if you are using English as corresponding mode in Malaysia, it's best to concentrate on becoming fluent. Basically pada saya belajar pronunciation boleh banyak membantu utk menjadikan anda lebih bagus untuk bercakap dalam BI.

A few things to consider:

1.Bunyi bahasa Inggeris agak lain dari bahasa2 lain. Contohnya perkataan bunyi thin atau away jarang ada dalam bahasa lain.

2.Bila anda baca English, contohnya perkataan NO (no) dan DO (du) adalah berlainan walaupun belakang dia ada O saja. Confusekan? Jadi check pronunciation utk setiap perkataan baru belajar...dia takde short cut bab ni. Lagi banyak membaca atau guna BI, automatic anda boleh tau apa bunyinya.

3. Macam mana nak belajar...dengar dan imitate. Bila tengok movie, ikut bunyi dia. Make sure decide nak belajar bunyi American atau British sebab bunyinya lain2...

4. Haruskah belajar? Itu terpulanglah. Pada saya yg penting ialah neutralising the sound. Jadi tak lah bunyi English kita pekat dengan accent BM kita bila kena guna dengan English speakers sampai diorang tak faham.

5.Macam mana orang yang fluent cakap English belajar cakap English? Haa....ini banyak bergantung dengan background masing2 dan environment the person is in.

a) You grow up in a home that speaks English

b) All your friends speaks English or you are forced to speak English most of the time

c) You are surrounded by ''all things English"

d) Lifestyle - you need to blend in

e) You decide to take up English...speak English, read English, sleep English, eat English, travel English etc

f) Your new job requires you to speak English...all the time and your colleagues are from all over the world

g) You studied abroad

h) Your peers are into English speaking stuff...English music, English movies...

Kalau anda ada kawan yang fasih cakap English...dia mungkin dalam kategori di atas...cuba selidik:) Anda boleh belajar English pronunciation melalui phonetics...atau dengan banyak membaca atau...belajar dengan saya...(promote diri sendiri pulak...hehe...). Small talk/Bual kosong

What is small talk? Small talk ialah bual kosong. Bila kita bual kosong? Mungkin bila kita hadir perkahwinan dan kena duduk sebelah orang yang kita tak kenal...kita kena mula bercakap. Jadi apa pula yang nak dicakapkan?

Ada macam2 topik, tapi topik yang lebih baik jangan diusik adalah yang berunsur politik,agama, perkauman.Cara paling senang:

1.Smile, introduce yourself and shake hands.

2.When you feel that you have nothing to say or can not engage further in the conversation, this probably means that you are feeling negative about yourself. Don't. This will only hinder you from conversing.

3. Understanding the secret of a good conversation. Find the interest of the person you are talking to,listen and talk less.

4. Ask open ended questions. Avoid questions that has yes and no answers.

Body languages you should observe (signs)
1. Scratching nose when talking - a sign of lying
2.Biting nail -nervous or worried about something
3.Folding arm - feel threaten and being defensive, but not necessarily
4.Leaning forward -interested
5. Lean back - relaxed and confident

Torres: I wanted to leave Anfield last summer

Can't believe I am posting this up. I am not a big fan of football. I actually did like football when I was in school. The fact that I grew up during my childhood elsewhere would explain a lot why I like football, then. Upon returning back home, none of my girlfriends seems to like football, let alone play it. Since I was in an all girls school, I had no one to share my passion with.

Years passed by...and suddenly out of no where, there were a huge following of football from ladies in Malaysia. Where did they come from? I never knew any girls who actually liked football in my teens here. By then, a sudden rise of ladies playing futsal appeared, futsal movies came out, sports cafe and what not. As for me, I think 80% of the ladies who like football now in Malaysia, never actually love football in their teens, let alone wear football jerseys and play in a football field (mesti korang pernah tengok movie orang putih budak2 main bola). I honestly  find it a little superficial. I think all this following happened 10-14 years back when the internet was a huge thing and girls wanted to hang out more with guys, make themselves look cool, another reason to go out to hang out with their friends, coming home late etc. Note: I do believe some girls do love football for football. Ditto.

Now days, things are a little bit different. The younger (girls) generation will love football more caused by the exposure of their moms in the late 1990ties and early 2000...and they would actually know how to play football:)

His No 9 Liverpool shirt was burnt on the streets of Merseyside when he concluded his audacious transfer on Monday night, but that has not prevented Chelsea's new £50m signing Fernando Torres from stating boldly that he hopes he scores against his former club when he makes his debut for his new team on Sunday and that he wanted to leave as early as last summer.

Torres described it as "destiny" that his first match for Chelsea will be against the club he represented for three and a half seasons, and he is looking forward to further irritating those Liverpool fire-starters by scoring at Stamford Bridge.

"It is like destiny," Torres said. "It is not perfect for me but we will see what happens and I only have good words about Liverpool. They made me a top player and gave me the chance to play at the top level. I will never say anything bad about Liverpool. I have been very happy there, but now the history is different and I am playing for Chelsea. If I have the chance to play, I will do my best for Chelsea and, hopefully, I can score."

"I felt from last summer that I needed to do a step forward in my career and for my ambition as a footballer," Torres said. "I am joining a team that is at the top level. There is not another level after Chelsea.

Torres, 26, also made it clear that he had wanted to leave Liverpool last summer but was talked out of it, an admission that will not go down well at his former club, where there were suspicions he simply was not trying hard enough.

However, despite the promise of better days under new owners Fenway Sports Group and the caretaker manager Kenny Dalglish, Torres admitted that the time had come to move to Chelsea which, he said, represents a step up to another, higher, level.

"I am joining with big names like [John] Terry, [Frank] Lampard, [Didier] Drogba and [Nicolas] Anelka and I can be part of this great team. Also, I wanted to join because Chelsea always have shown a big respect for me. They really want me and it is important when you have the support of the people in the club, and the support of the fans who always showed respect to me when I came to Stamford Bridge. Now I am very happy to be a Chelsea player."

Torres has spoken in the past of feeling it is "as if you don't exist" and that you "are going backwards" if you are not competing in the Champions League. It appears he harbours the same ambition to win it as the Chelsea owner, Roman Abramovich, and manager, Carlo Ancelotti.

The closest Torres has come was when his Liverpool team lost in the semi-finals to Chelsea in 2008. "I have a very bad memory of the semi-final of the Champions League when they beat us," he said. "It was a frustrating day for me but, hopefully, now I am here we can go through to the final and win.

"The Champions League is a big ambition and all the footballers want to play in it. It is a very important competition. But also Chelsea have the chance every season to win all the trophies that they play for, so when you have the chance to play in a team like this, you cannot say no."

Chelsea also completed the £21.5m signing of Benfica defender David Luiz, with midfielder Nemanja Matic going the other way at the end of the season. Luiz said: "It is a major challenge but I am determined and confident in my ability to adapt to this excellent league."

The Chelsea chief executive, Ron Gourlay, dug into the cliché archive to to describe the feelings of AncelottiGourlay said.
