Perbezaan I, me, my, mine, myself

Kalau anda keliru tentang perbezaan I, me, my, mine and myself -bukan anda seorang! Jadi saya akan cuba terangkan perbezaannya.

I dan me
I adalah subjek yang melakukan sesuatu perkara didalam ayat.
I bake Zack a cake.

Me adalah objek yang menerima sesuatu didalam ayat.
Zack gave me a book.

Zack and I saw Nizam at the restaurant.
Zack = subjek
I= subjek
Nizam =objek

*Gunakan I selepas subjek lain - Amira, Linda and I...

Nizam called Zack and me over.
Nizam =subjek
Zack = objek
me = objek

My and mine
Gunakan my sebelum sesuatu perkataan, mine selepas sesuatu perkataan (menunjukkan hak milik):

Nina is my friend.
Nina is a friend of mine.

Those are my shoes.
Those shoes are mine.

Bob is my cat.
Bob is a cat of mine atau Bob is mine.

That is my apartment.
That apartment is mine.

This is my book.
This book is mine.

*My digunakan sebelum noun.

I bought the dress myself.
I fix the car myself.

My oldest brother works as a doctor,
My eldest brother works as a doctor.
Kedua-duanya betul.

Tetapi anda tidak akan gunakan :
The Parthenon is one of the eldest buildings in the world.
Kita akan gunakan :
The Parthenon is one of the oldest buildings in the world.

Ampang Park is one of the oldest shopping malls in Kuala Lumpur.
That house is the oldest one in the area.
Is London the oldest city in England?

Jika anda dapat lihat, eldest digunakan untuk keluarga atau seseorang - he is the eldest in the group.

How to use for and since (to tell time)?

Macam mana nak guna for dan since untuk masa?

Saya baru-baru ni ada bagi latihan have/had kepada a few of them yang belajar dengan saya...dan saya perasan ramai buat mistake menggunakan for dan since. Jadi saya ingat nak kongsi skit macam mana nak guna for dan since ni.

FOR + period (masa) = dari satu masa yang lepas hingga waktu ianya berakhir
for 8 years >> I have stayed in Malaysia for 8 years.
for a long time >> I have known them for a long time.
for 2 months >> He will be away for 2 months.
For boleh pakai untuk semua jenis tenses (present,past,future).

SINCE + point (ketika) dari suatu masa hingga kini
I know her since we were children.
They've been waiting since 9am.
She has lived there since she was 12.
Since pakai untuk present tense sahaja.

Sekarang test pemahaman anda (jawapan dibawah):
1.You need to bake the cake _____ 1 hour.
2.He has been walking _____ this morning.
3.We are going to tour Europe ____ a month.
4.Hamid says he will be on study leave _____ half a year.
5.I've been having a headache ______ Wednesday.
6.Hana has been working there _____ they moved.
7. They were at the hospital _____quite a while.
8. She said she'll wait ______a little while longer.
9.They have waited for you ______ this afternoon.
10. I have waited ____ her all my life.

1.for 2.since 3.for 4.for 5.since 6.since 7.for 8.for 9.since 10.for

Monday came and left

Yup. Another day goes by...I bet most of you are relieved that Monday is gone :D

In my bored vs boring post,  E-One, asked me if I could explain:

1.Difference between perhaps and maybe
Basically, they mean the same thing, possibly. But your question is probably when you should use these words?
You can use them in the beginning of the sentence, middle, at the end or even use both in the same sentence - they are interchangeable. But perhaps is a little formal, so you may want to use it in report writing, formal replies,requests and leave may be to social stuff.
Maksud sama saja. Boleh diganti2 tempatnya. Tapi perhaps lebih formal.

2. Some and several
To me this is related to numbers. How I perceive it is that some means a certain unspecified number (time, person...unspecified).

Can you get me some coke?
I think there are some toys in the basket.

Several means more than 2, but not less.
There are several empty bottles near the door.
Several of the kids are going to the library later.

some>benda yang tak tentu nombornya, masa, orang
Some man called you just now.

Vocabulary:
interchangeable > able to be replaced, use in the place of each other.Boleh diganti tempat
